THE PROCESS AND WHAT TO EXPECT

Beautiful spaces take time to create and we’ll do our best to accomplish as much as possible during your Design Day. Thoughtful consideration is given to each decision and selection to ensure it reflects the overall aesthetic, your taste and personality, and the way you live. The more information you provide ahead of time, the more we can hone in on your style and select the perfect items for your space.

PHASE ONE: DESIGN DETAILS

Before we get started, there are a few items we’ll need from you so we can dive right in during your session.

01 | Your Design Questionnaire

We recommend setting aside about 30 minutes to complete the questionnaire, which you’ll find at the bottom of this page. This helps us to understand your design style, your lifestyle, and how your home needs to function. Please complete this 48 hours prior to your session, so we can dedicate your in person design time to your project.

02 | Your MyDoma Client Portal

You’ll receive an invitation from Mydoma Studio via email. Please upload photos of your space and inspiration photos for our review.

03 | Room Measurements

In the event we will be preparing a floor plan for you, we recommend sending us your room measurements ahead of time so we don’t need to spend valuable design time measuring and building out your floor plan. If applicable, click the button below to review our simple measuring tips.

PHASE TWO: DESIGN SESSION

After your design details are completed, your design session will take place. For in home and virtual sessions, we typically work face to face for 1-2 hours, and then use the remaining time to work behind the scenes to create floor plans (if needed) and select the perfect furniture, fixtures, and finishes for your space.

PHASE THREE: DESIGN PLAN

Typically two business days after your session, we’ll have your design plan ready for you in your MyDoma Client Portal. We’ll also include a virtual presentation where we’ll walk through the selections and share the reasoning behind them.

STEP FOUR: DESIGN SUPPORT

We encourage you to provide feedback and ask questions about your design during the five days of included support. You can also request reselections for up to two items. For items sourced through retailers, we recommend placing your orders quickly to guarantee availability. For items sourced through RSJD, once you approve, we’ll send over your invoice and manage the entire ordering process for you, all the way to delivery of the item.

COMMUNICATION guidelines

Communication is essential to keeping your project running smoothly. We’ll keep communication limited to email and your Mydoma client portal for best record keeping.

Mydoma Client Portal

We’ll use your Mydoma client portal for communicating, sharing pictures and selections, approving invoices, and reviewing final design documents. We’ve linked a simple guide below for how to access and use your MyDoma Client Portal.

Reselections

In the event you would like a revision on specific items presented in your design plan, please notify us within two business days of your presentation so we can provide alternates within the five days of included support. You may request up to two item reselections in total as part of this service. Because of the limited nature of this service, we do our best to make selections based on the information you provide in your design questionnaire and via inspiration images; we strongly encourage you to be thorough in your responses.

PROJECT GUIDELINES

To ensure you have the best experience throughout your project, we’ve highlighted a few important project guidelines below. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Project Timeline

After your design session, you can expect your detailed design plan within two business days. You’ll also receive five days of design support to ask any questions you have about the design and to request your two reselection items, if needed. For items ordered through Rebecca St. John Design, we’ll provide updates on the status of your goods and will coordinate the delivery once they are ready.

Lead Times

Fine furniture takes time. You can expect anywhere from 12 weeks or more for production time. Custom upholstered pieces may take longer and we’ll keep you updated as we receive status information on your orders.

Currently we are seeing delays of 6-12 weeks or more due to Covid-19.

YOUR DESIGN SESSION

Depending on what is determined at the time of scheduling your session, your design day will either take place in your home (for local clients) or via Zoom (for distance clients or clients who are happy to do the session remotely). Once your design is completed, we’ll provide samples for your review for items sourced through Rebecca St. John Design.

 

 
 

ORDERS PLACED THROUGH REBECCA ST. JOHN DESIGN

ORDER PAYMENTS

Payment is required before orders can be placed. After thirty days from date of presentation, a requote fee will be assessed. Prices presented in proposals and invoices are subject to change at any time prior to order acknowledgement by our vendor. All sales are final.

CUSTOM AND SPECIAL ORDERS

Once the order is approved and submitted it cannot be cancelled or returned.

Shipping & Freight

Shipping and freight fees are the cost for vendors to ship items from their factory to the receiving warehouse. Smaller items may be sent via UPS or Fedex, while a majority of furnishings will be delivered via a freight truck.

Receiver Fees

Due to requirements by vendors, a receiving warehouse is required to receive, inspect, and store the majority of items ordered for each project until your space is ready for furnishings. We’ll coordinate with the receiving warehouse to schedule your white glove delivery. If applicable, the receiver will also assemble your furniture upon delivery. Generally shipping, freight, and receiving account for 10-15% of the furniture budget.

WINDOW TREATMENT INSTALLATION

Custom window treatments are installed by a third party company and will be billed at time of installation. This fee will be added to your final invoice.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do you source furniture?

We typically design with mid to high-end furniture pieces that we buy directly from craftsmen and vendors only available to designers.

HOW SHOULD I BUDGET FOR MY SESSION?

To design a space in keeping with our aesthetic, a budget of $10,000-40,000 is assumed. We are happy to incorporate existing pieces into the design if they fit the desired look and layout.

I love it! How do I order?

Invoices can be paid online or by mailing a check to our office. Full payment is required prior to order placement. We'll keep you updated along the way so you always know the status of your orders.

How do reselections work?

We do our very best to make selections that are perfect for your design style, lifestyle, and budget. If there is an item you don't love, we ask that you notify us by email within two days of your design presentation so we can make another selection for you. This service includes up to two item reselections, if needed.
